Age Spots & Hyperpigmentation
Age spots are small areas of discolouration (hyperpigmentation) that frequently appear on the face, hands and other parts of the body regularly exposed to the sun. Hyperpigmentation can occur in anyone but it is more prevalent among individuals with darker skin tones. It is the body’s response to trauma, such as acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis or aesthetic interventions. Both conditions are made worse by exposure to the sun.
Treatments
Treatment can involve Micro-Needling, Skin Peels, Polynucleotides and the use of prescription-only medicines depending on the severity. You can prevent age spots developing on your skin by wearing a high value SPF (preferably SPF50) every day and by keeping out of the sun between 10am and 2pm.
