Polynucleotides
Polynucleotides act as a powerful skin booster by stimulating fibroblasts in the skin to produce collagen and elastin. They help repair crepey skin and can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
+ What is it?
Polynucleotides consist of long stretchy molecules made of purified fish DNA that exactly mirrors human DNA. By encouraging cell growth and turnover, they improve skin quality and can treat a range of concerns including:
+ Treatment areas
- Wrinkles, especially fine lines and crepey skin
- Dry, dehydrated skin
- Dark circles under the eyes
- Baggy eyes
- Saggy necks
- Receding hair line
- Rosacea
- Acne scarring
- Hyperpigmentation
- Smokers lines
+ Is it for me?
Polynucleotides are generally considered to be very safe but as with any injectable, there are possible side effects to be aware of. These may include mild bruising and swelling but these usually resolve within in a few days.
+ Procedure
Topical anaesthetic is first applied to the area then the polynucleotides are administered either through multiple superficial injections or through a cannula.
For best results, 2 possibly 3 sessions are needed 2-4 weeks apart depending on age and level of ‘damage’to the skin. It takes approximately 4-6 weeks for the optimum results to appear and will last approximately 6 months. After which a top-up procedure may be needed.
+ Aftercare
There may be some swelling and mild bruising which will resolve in a few days. Avoid exercise on the day of treatment but normal activities can be resumed the following day.
+ Cost
Eye area: £300 per session
Skin/Neck: £320 per session
Hair line/scalp: £320 per session
+ Which is better ?
For younger skin and immediate results that are more affordable, Profhilo is a good choice. For longer-lasting results around the eyes, opt for Polynucleotides or Sunekos. For the neck area, either a combination of Polynucleotides and Profhilo or a Sunekos/Profhilo combination. The addition of a wrinkle-smoother such as Botox can also be beneficial for smoothing platysmal bands. To treat hair loss, Polynucleotides probably have the edge.
