+ What is it?

Wrinkle-smoothing injections use a form of purified Botulinum Toxin A derived from the bacterium, Clostridium Botulinum. It is perfectly safe and has been used for many years to treat migraines, urinary incontinence and many other conditions. As a wrinkle-smoothing agent it is used in much lower concentrations. Some well-known brand names include; Botox, Dysport, and Bocouture. Although they have different names, they all contain the same active ingredient.

Wrinkle-smoothing injections have been used safely for over 20 years without complications. Any possible side effects are minimal and can range from tenderness at the injection site and mild bruising. Ptosis, or drooping of the eyelid is rare but can happen. All possible side effects are short lasting.

+ Procedure

Following a full consultation involving a medical history, the Wrinkle-smoothing product is administered via a fine needle into the relevant area. Effects can be seen within 7-10 days and can last from 4-5 months depending on age and site.

+ Aftercare

For the first 4 hours keep upright and do not lie down. This is to prevent the product from migrating into the wrong muscle group. For the following 12 hours do not massage the area, wear make-up or drink alcohol. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and spicy food. From the next day, you can resume life as normal.

+ Downtime

Immediately post-procedure, there may be a slight swelling but resolves within 15-20 minutes.
