+ What is it?

Chemical peels use different types of acid in varying concentrations to improve the texture of the skin. You may be familiar with some of the acid names; Glycolic, Mandelic, Salycilic Acid. The best one for you will be decided at your consultation.

+ Is it for me?

There are many types of peel. Peels are not suitable if you know you are going to be exposed to the sun for the following 3 weeks. Avoid peels if you are pregnant, breast feeding, have had laser treatment within the previous 6 weeks or have used Roaccutane within the last 6 months.

+ Is it safe?

A peel treatment is very safe if performed by an experienced and qualified practitioner. It is very important to commit to using a strong SPF (preferably SPF50) post procedure. This is to prevent the risk of Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation.

+ Procedure

Following a full consultation and medical history, written consent will be obtained and photographs taken. All information is securely kept in accordance with General Data Protection guidelines.

A course of 6 peels spread 1 month apart is recommended for best results. The skin is cleaned, the peel applied and then removed after the recommended time.

+ Aftercare

Do not touch or rub the area or apply makeup for at least 6 hours. Apply an SPF (you can wear a moisturiser). For the following couple of days it is best to avoid make up but essential to wear an SPF.

+ Downtime

Expect some redness and swelling for a couple of days post-procedure. This will be followed by dryness and possibly mild sloughing of the skin. Peels usually take up to a week before the new, fresh and glowing skin is revealed.
